Seesaw Parental Consent Form

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Golden N.S. are delighted to share with you that this school year we will be using Seesaw (http://seesaw.me), a secure online journal/remote learning platform. While we are happy and confident that schools will remain open, it is necessary to be ready for a situation where a school may be faced with closure (in whole or part) for a period during which the curriculum may have to be delivered remotely.

Seesaw is a fantastic online platform for student engagement. The Seesaw app can be downloaded on a mobile phone or accessed through a link on a PC. Seesaw allows your child to view tasks/lessons assigned by their teacher and to respond to activities/tasks through their own personal profile. Children can respond on Seesaw in a number of ways e.g. by posting photos, videos, worksheets, drawings and voice recordings to their Seesaw journal. Items cannot be shared without teacher approval. These journals can be shared privately with you and other family members to view and comment on throughout the school year.

In order for your child to use Seesaw, the app needs your child’s name in order to be able to associate work eg their photos, videos or voice recordings etc. with their account. Seesaw only uses this information to provide the service. It does not advertise, create profiles of students, or share or sell your child’s personal information or journal content.  You can read more about the privacy agreement here: https://web.seesaw.me/privacy.

Under an EU law called the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), in order for your child to use Seesaw, the school must get your consent. For more information on GDPR, please visit https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/law-topic/data-protection/reform/rights-citizens

With your permission, a pupil account for your child will be set up within their class teacher’s profile on Seesaw. Parents will receive an email with a code and instructions how to log in to the app. All work on this app is private and confidential to you and your child. Children cannot see each other’s' work and their responses to schoolwork/homework will be personal and stored in their journal.

I hope that your child will enjoy using Seesaw to document and share their learning this year.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school. Please submit your response below by Friday 18th September, to allow your child/children to use Seesaw.
