Work for 1st & 2nd Class Mon. 30th March - Fri. 3rd April

27th Mar 2020

Hello to all parents and children in first & second class!

I hope you have all been keeping well and looking after each other at home during these unusual times.

I am asking the students in my class to continue on another week of their regular work. This consists of:

  • English:
    • Continue practising your 3 sentences each day in your copies (I have these already prepared)
    • Continue half a page of handwriting each day (Mon - Thurs)
    • Jolly Grammar pg. 52/53 - corresponding with sounds in sentences
    • 2 pages of reading from your class reader every day (Mon - Fri)
      •  1st class - pg.44 -53 (end of story)
      •  2nd class - pg. 41 - 50
  • Maths:
    • Work it Out Week 27 (Mon - Thurs)
    • Tables for 2nd class are -11
  • Irish (2nd class)
    • Aonad 27
  • Parents please feel free to test your child's spellings/sentences/tables at the end of the week

This is the list of what I am asking your children to do, but I would encourage them to continue to read more of their own books every day. This is most important for young children. If you are lucky enough to be at home with your child/children get them involved in the cooking, baking(weighing/measuring), cleaning, tidying, playing shop (practising handling money) role-playing; using their imaginations... this is a great opportunity to help your child develop all these invaluable life skills.

Just for fun and some light entertainment I am including a link here for some riddles you can ask your children as I know we enjoy them most days in class to keep our brains working quickly and thinking outside the box - https://icebreakerideas.com/riddles-for-kids/

I am also including two images with this post. One is a drawing challenge for the children to try complete over 14 days & the other is a list of free resources that are available online if you find your child is getting bored at home.

Wishing you all the best for the next week.

I will post again before the end of the Easter holidays with more updates & additional work if school remains closed. Please enjoy your Easter Holidays and give my regards to the children to stay safe, stay active and get plenty of fresh air!
