Work for 1st & 2nd Class Mon. 20th April - Fri. 4th April

Hello again to all parents and children in first & second class!

I hope you had a lovely Easter break filled with lots of fun, treats and Easter eggs.

This is the list of what I am asking your children to do, but I would like to emphasise that the emotional and physical well being of your child is priority right now and if you cannot manage to get all this work done, please don’t stress.

I am asking the students in my class to continue on another week of their regular work. This consists of:

• Literacy:
  • Continue practising your 3 sentences each day in your copies.
  • This week’s sentences for 1^st class are:
    • 1. It was a noisy car.
    • 2. They are pointing at me.
    • 3. The snake coils around the tree.

• • This week’s sentences for 2^nd class are:
    • 1. This story is about hares.
    • 2. The mare had a foal last winter.
    • 3. The spare wheel is in the back of the truck.

• Jolly Grammar pg. 54/55 - corresponding with sounds in sentences
• Continue half a page of handwriting each day (Mon - Thurs)

• Reading:
  • 1^st Class Finn’s Dream pg. 1 - 15 (3 pages a day Mon – Fri)
  • 2nd class Lost Keys pg. 51 – 60 end of story (2 pages a day Mon – Fri) 
    • *1^st class parents please see below for instructions on new reading material for your child*

• Maths:
  • Work it Out Week 28 (Mon - Thurs)
  • Tables for 2nd class are -12

• Irish
  • 2nd class F & F Aonad 28
  • 1^st & 2^nd class feel free to download and try out the Duolingo app if possible (5-10 mins p/day is plenty)
• Parents please feel free to test your child's spellings/sentences/tables if you wish at the end of the week.

*As 1^st class children have finished their reader (and 2^nd class also will be after this week) I am asking parents of students from my classroom to set up an account with https://www.folensonline.ie/

I will be assigning reading material from this website.

1^st class: Finn’s Dream

2^nd class: The Grump Teaspoon (from next week 27^th April – 1^st May)

Again, these are unprecedented times and the last thing we need is more stress in our homes so if you’re finding it too much to complete this set work remember there is also great learning in the everyday activities you are already doing with your child; jigsaws, painting, folding clothes, baking, making own bed.

I am including an image with this post, an activity sheet that is completely optional and only for fun or if your child is looking for something else to do. There are many fun, healthy and helpful activities on it!
