Work for 1st & 2nd Class Mon. 18th - Fri. 22nd May

17th May 2020

Hello all!

I hope you are all keeping well and adjusting to the changes we have all had to make.

Please try complete as much of the set work that you can mange and if you cannot complete it all, just make a special effort to keep reading every day.

(For extra reading material, sign into “Epic!” – A perfect opportunity to use screen time to support your child’s learning.)

  • English:
  • 1st Class: Word Wise: Unit 16 pg.62 - 65

Reading: https://www.folensonline.ie/ Reading Zone

  • 1st Class The Four Friends: King Midas/The Four Friends pg.16 – 25 (2 pages a day)
  • 2nd Class The Grumpy Teaspoon pg28-30 & pg32-34 (Crazy Daisy & At the Bike Shop)

These stories have accompanying activities on pg31/35 – if your child is looking for additional work please give them a go – otherwise just reading the stories is satisfactory

  • Jolly Grammar pg. 62/63
  • Handwriting (Big book) pg. 43 – 46
    • The small handwriting book can be used at your own discretion, moving forward I will only be assigning work from the bigger workbook.
  • Maths:
  • 1st Class – Busy at Maths pg. 116, 117, 118, 119, 120
  • 2nd Class – Busy at “Look Back” & “Pattern3” pg. 139, 140, 141, 142, 143

**Please note: I will be not be assigning certain chapters from Busy at Maths as they include concepts that can be quite tricky and I would prefer that the children are taught these during “face-to-face” class time. These chapters will be covered thoroughly when the children get back to school so please do not worry about them falling behind. The chapters that will be covered in the next school year are:

1st class: Addition 5 (pg.142 – 149) - addition with regrouping (carrying tens)

2nd class Subtraction3 & Subtracion4 (pg.136-138 & 152-155) – subtraction with renaming

Golden NS teaches sunbtraction differently to the examples laid out in the workbook so please ignore these chapters as your child will be using the borrow/payback method.
