An Update on School Work from the Infants Classroom

26th Mar 2020

This post is to help you, as parent, to facilitate your child’s continued learning at home. It is not prescriptive, it is available to you if you are looking to continue work at home. Whatever you choose to do from this post is entirely up to you, as your child’s primary educator.
The suggested work outlined is designed to continue work they would otherwise be doing in school and it is meant to provide guidance and to be done in a time that suits you.  I have included in this post links to the recommended work in a suggested order. For Seniors, their 1st reading activity is linked to also.

While we don’t know yet if we will be back before the end of the school year, I have outlined three weeks of work.  I will update with further work at the beginning of May if the need arises.

I am also including some websites you might find useful.

The first set of websites are ones which free access has been granted to parents for the duration of the closures, they contain online versions of many of your child’s books and more too. They also have Teacher Manuals to support you.

I have also included some lovely websites that will help your child to engage with learning in other ways or may come in useful to you if there is a rainy day. Some activities require a printer while most online only. We are very lucky the weather has been so good during this time and time spent outside, getting active, exploring and using their imagination is educating in itself. Play is child’s work after all!

Hoping you are all keeping well,

Ms O’Brien
