Celebrating Kindness and Working to Prevent Bullying

15th Nov 2021

This week is Anti-Bullying Week November 12th-19th 2021. The aim of this week is not only to highlight what bullying behaviour looks like but to actively prevent bullying from happening in our school. Helping children to understand that empathy and kindness towards others not only reduces bullying in the classroom and on the yard, but it helps children to feel good about themselves and feel connected.

Hurt People Hurt People

At the root of bullying behaviours can often be anger, jealousy and loneliness which can make children lash out. More often than not, children who are engaging in bullying behaviour do not even realise the impact they are having on the children around them. For this reason we wish to foster a climate of kindness and empathy within our school and to give children the tools to help regulate emotions like anger, jealousy and loneliness in a healthy way that will make them feel heard and connected. We wish to highlight the importance of showing kindness to one another, with that in mind we will be having our first ever ...

Golden Kindness Day

On Friday November 19th, we are encouraging our school community to mindfully make an effort to show kindness in their words and actions.

Being kind doesn’t need to look or be extravagant. Sometimes the simplest things make the most significant difference! Here are a few simple ideas and ways to be helpful on World Kindness Day at school and at home with your loved ones.

Look for opportunities while you go through your day to infuse kindness into someone’s day. It’ll change their day and yours for the better!

  • Smile when you walk by others
  • Write positive messages on post-it notes and leave them for people to find
  • Call a relative you haven’t spoken to in a while
  • Tidy up around your house
  • Pick up rubbish you see on the ground and put it in the bin.
  • Hold the door open for someone
  • Chat with someone you don't talk to that often and ask them about their day
  • Compliment someone
  • Send a positive or encouraging message to five people in your contacts
  • Surprise someone with a hand made card
  • Tell a family member or friend you love them
  • Plant a tree
  • Spend less time on your phone and more time with people you care about
  • Practice gratitude
  • Give someone a hug

Get creative and make your list of kind acts for World Kindness Day!
