Return to School - 06th January 2022
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope you enjoyed the Christmas break. On behalf of all the staff, I would like to wish you and your family every good health and happiness for 2022.
All classes will return to school as normal tomorrow Thursday, 06th January 2022. We look forward to welcoming our boys and girls back to kick-start the new term! As the majoirty of books were brought home before the holidays in the event of a school closure, children are asked to bring back all of their textbooks and copybooks over the next two days. Your child is asked to focus on returning material related to core subjects (Maths, English & Gaeilge) on Thursday and the remainder on Friday if possible.
Due to this period of increased COVID infection nationwide, staff absences will be a considerable difficulty for the education sector and it's inevitable that our our school will also be affected. Given the current rules regarding close contacts, isolation periods etc., there may also be a significant absence rate amongst pupils. Continuing on from your great efforts in 2021, we once ask that you remain vigilant and do not send your child to school if they are showing any symptoms of COVID-19. Please notify the school if your child tests positive in any antigen or PCR test so that we can try to protect each other and reduce the spread if possible.
Mitigating efforts to combat COVID in school continues for this new term. In addition, we've ordered HEPA filters for all classrooms which are expected to arrive in the coming days/weeks. Masks will continue to be worn by pupils in third to sixth class at all times while indoors. Younger pupils may also wear a mask while in class if they so wish.
Here's hoping that 2022 will bring some form of normality back to all of us and, most importantly, our pupils.
Le meas,
James McCarthy
